The Sheryl Kennedy Scholarship
The Mothers Matter Centre equips mothers facing low income and isolation to become engaged citizens and confident parents and to prepare their children for success in school.
Our organization is built on the foundational belief that mothers are the catalysts for change within their families and communities. Motivated by a desire to secure the best possible future for their children, with even minimal support, mothers can overcome many obstacles.

The Mothers Matter Centre is proud to honour Sheryl Kennedy, who has just completed a ten-year term on the Mothers Matter Centre Board serving on the executive and as an instrumental driver behind the transformation from HIPPY Canada to the Mothers Matter Centre. Working tirelessly with other Board members, Sheryl’s contributions have helped establish the Mothers Matter Centre as an internationally respected institute benefiting mothers across Canada.
Sheryl’s dedication to the cause, to so many mothers without a voice, was an inspiration to staff and to her fellow Board members. She was unstinting in her generous gifts of time and personal connections to move our fledgling organization along. Her advice has always been thoughtful and helpful, and her evident empathy and compassion to the women we have the honour to serve both genuine and abundant.
To celebrate Sheryl’s years of service and honour a beloved Board member, we have named a scholarship fund after her. We look forward to helping a mother who demonstrates outstanding determination to advance her education with the first Sheryl Kennedy scholarship, to be bestowed annually.
MMC will award $500 annually for women wishing to pursue training relating to a business career.
