Upon her arrival in Canada from Pakistan in 2013, Nusrat Awan felt lonely and disconnected. Four months pregnant, she turned to organizations like HIPPY for help. When COVID-19 hit and restrictions were put in place, Nusrat and her family faced many challenges at home.
While keeping up with consistent routines usually kept her children calm and in order, their new schedules were much different than what they were used to and her children had a hard time adjusting. Nusrat did not let this discourage her. She found resources provided by HIPPY to boost the learning abilities of her children and as a result, her family became more informed, active, and educated.
