Elyse is an accomplished business executive with experience in driving growth, technology and innovation. She recently retired as President and Chief Executive Officer of GE Canada and Vice-President of the GE Company where she led a multi-billion dollar digital, manufacturing and industrial services company. Elyse currently serves on the board of Brookfield Asset Management, as Vice Chair for the Ontario Health Agency, as a Fellow at the C.D. Howe Institute and co-chair of its Energy Council, and as a Director of Mars Discovery District. Her community engagement has included board roles with the Royal Ontario Museum and The Canadian Chamber of Commerce.
While at GE, Elyse led several initiatives to engage youth in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math). They included supporting ACTUA to provide science and math camps to young girls and northern communities, a cross country digital road show and a scholarship program targeting women pursuing science and engineering in university. Her support for women in business includes catalyzing GE’s women’s network in Canada, leading GE’s global network for women in commercial roles and recently serving on the Canada-US Council for the Advancement of Women in Business and Entrepreneurs. Elyse actively mentors women from GE, Dartmouth and Tuck and often speaks at conferences for women studying commerce and business.
Organizations have recognized Elyse for her commitment to career, community and public policy including the YWCA Women of Distinction Award and induction in the Canadian Women’s Executive Network Most Powerful Women, Hall of Fame. She was appointed to the Order of Canada in 2014 for her innovative leadership and focus on engaging girls in STEM and has received honorary doctorates from several Canadian universities.
Elyse and her husband Don reside in Toronto and have one grown child, Stuart.
