It’s was an event unlike no other! The Mothers Matter Centre (MMC) celebrated the everyday yet extraordinary actions made by women across Canada at our annual Because Mothers Matter Awards.

on May 10th, 2023 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm PDT.

About the event
​
The event spotlighted stellar achievers – from prominent Canadian moms to a select circle of outstanding mothers involved in the HIPPY program. All deeply committed to their communities, these women exemplified the uniquely powerful role of mothers in leading social change.
​
The theme of the Gala in 2023 was “The Legacy of Change: Principles, Practice, and People” – a legacy each honouree had brought to the world by contributing to the HIPPY program’s life-changing work over the past 23 years.
​
The event’s Mother of the Year was Debbie Bell, the founding CEO/President of the Mothers Matter Centre. We also celebrated three outstanding HIPPY Coordinators – women who themselves had started in the program as HIPPY mothers and had committed their lives to operating HIPPY sites across Canada. Additionally, we presented the Trailblazer Award to the Honourable Dr. Hedy Fry, who had demonstrated foresight and boldness in forging positive change.
